Sticky

Sticky (son of Mickey) was put together at the start of Hilary Term 1998. Animal Hospital was a highly successful event, during which members were invited to bring along any spare parts they had.

Sticky is the most powerful x86 based machine we have, although it has recently been downgraded after hardware failure. Current spec is as follows:

  • P100
  • 80Mb RAM
  • 2.8GB IDE

Sticky is happily firewalled behind fishy, and was our main user box. It is now used for compiling x86 based binaries and runs MySQL, internal DNS and our web server. It had to be downgraded in February 2000 - despite surviving the failure of its primary IDE channel, we gave up on it when the motherboard stopped booting. Unfortunately we also lost an 8GB IDE hard disk with it.
