The original incarnation of Sticky (son of Mickey) was put together at the start of Hilary Term 1998 during the Animal Hospital event.

Sticky used to be the most powerful x86 based machine we have, and was at its peak a 200 Mhz AMD K6 with plenty of RAM and about 3.5 GB of IDE disk. Now, in its third or so incarnation, it is Trotter's brother, being a second Pentium 75 donated by Magdalen.

Sticky used to be our main user box, but hardware failure forced it out of this role. Despite surviving the failure of its primary IDE channel, we finally gave up on it when the motherboard stopped booting — unfortunately taking an 8 GB IDE disk with it.

It's now our NIS server.
