The Demon Princes

Contact the High Priest.

Also known as Primus, which refers to the fact that they are the highest-ranking members of the hierarchy of Hell. These demons are therefore the masters of the Pit. This page is not yet complete. See the Recent Developments room for details of completed areas of the shrine.

Strictly speaking, there are precisely seven in total. The three highest ranking are the Snake Demons - Ishtra, Myurr and Sith. Acting as their lieutenants are the four lesser princes, the Night Demons Shakor, Kalin, Relem and Vradna. Before the First Battle many more demons of an equal or higher rank were in the service of the Dark Lords, but it was only a few who escaped the banishment to the Void. All these are sometimes loosely termed Demon Princes and are merely the most powerful of the Greater Demons.

Some demons of equal rank do not dwell in the Demonic Planes but have escaped the sentence of the Void. For instance the Kurakil certainly appeared to have been as powerful as the Princes. The Malice that possessed Orghuz of Gorak may also have been a powerful demon. Certainly it was referred to as The Evil One. However, its inability to manifest fully suggests that it was the diluted spirit of a Dark Lord.

The Rulers

The three highest-ranking Demon Princes of Hell are called the Snake Demons. Before the First Battle there were other Demons of the same rank who did not escape the banishment to the Void, or fled elsewhere other than to the Demonic Planes (such as the Kurakil). During the First Battle the demons of this rank acted as Field Generals of the Forces of Evil ranking alongside the likes of Arhallogen and Voivod.

There are three such Snake Demons named Ishtra, Myurr and Sith. They are inhumanly cruel to all of their servants but this pales into insignificance compared to their cruelty to humans. They answer only to the Dark Lords. Far from being co-operative with one another in their constant struggle for domination of the world they actually fight with one another constantly.

It should be noted that these Demons might take many forms. The reason these Demons are called Snake Demons by scholars is due to Sith's passion for snakes. It is she who is commonly referred to in the form of a Snake. The forms that Ishtra and Myurr take are often very different but the term Snake Demon has stuck.

Sith

She is currently the dominant Prince of the Pit, although in recent decades her power has waned on the Earthly Realm. She is known to be the cruellest of the Demon Princes.

She is also the creator of the Snake People (the Caarth). She was known in ancient Djarata as Sithera and depicted with the head of a snake with four arms. She was also called the Goddess of Evil there. She is often depicted with her pet python Sussussurr, the Immortal Son of Vermistra (the Goddess of Snakes).

Myurr

Myurr's activities on the Earthly Plane have been numerous throughout history and he is constantly plotting his rise to power over Titan. Most often he will take the form of a human. It was Myurr's possession of the body of King Faramos XXIII of Atlantis that led to the sinking of that wondrous Island, the last bastion of the humans' Golden Age. He has also been known to take the form of a large toad.

The Dark Elves worship him and the King and chief Princess of the Dark Elven race are acolytes of this Demon.

Ishtra

It was he who perverted the Lizardmen to the side of Evil. He takes the form of a repulsive goat-headed crocodile when visiting Titan. Alternatively he may just take the form of an intense ball of energy.

Kurakil

A powerful Demon trapped for two hundred years by the Casket of Shadows by Enthus the Martyr. Possibly a fourth Demon Prince of the Snake Demon Rank, although not a Snake Demon himself. Also known as The Infernal Beast, and as Miphreas, the Soul Destroyer.

The Generals

The Night Demons are four of the seven Demon Princes of the Pit, although more may possibly have been banished to the Void along with the Dark Lords. Simply put they are the second tier of the Demon Princes and serve the three Snake Demons and sometimes others of the same rank. They are named Kalin, Relem, Shakor and Vradna. They are the tacticians of the Legions of Hell directing demonic forces to wherever they are needed. They have humanoid bodies thickly muscled with a deep red brown skin colour. They also have two black and dragon-like heads and they have large bat-like wings. They spend most of their time examining the world of Titan through a misted pool in the War Room of the Palace of Agony.
