The Dark Lords of Chaos

Contact the High Priest.

Dark Lords are the chief deities of Evil and Chaos, many of whom are imprisoned in the Void. They are thought to be formless shadowy beings in their basic state, just manifestations of pure Evil. The exact number is not known, although twenty-three has been postulated. This page is not yet complete. See the Recent Developments room for details of completed areas of the shrine.

There is much confusion regarding the Dark Lords - even in so far as exactly which beings make up their numbers. For example, Slangg and Tanit are sometimes called Dark Lords, but in other places are said to be merely allies.

The High Lords of Chaos

The three chief Lords are known as Death and his two brothers Disease and Decay. Slangg and Tanit are sometimes referred to as such. Many scholars believe the spirit of War to be a further Dark Lord. Certainly Shekka, the ancient Goddess of Witchcraft, is among their number and some believe The Malice is the diluted spirit of an unknown Dark Lord. The Dark Lords are served by the demons in the pit, commanded by the Demon Princes.

Death

The First Lord of Chaos. Also known as The Closer and The Finisher in Frostholm where he is portrayed as a mighty black Giant who wields an axe forged from the metal of night, and in many lands he is known as the Grim Reaper. To the nomads of the Scythera Desert in Khul he is known as Krsh, the sound of a man's last breath. He is the brother of the twins Disease and Decay.

His symbol is the skull and his sacred colour is Black. Adventuring Priests of Death may be encountered throughout Titan. In the legend of Throben it was Death who brought about the existence of the Necromancer.

Disease

The brother of Death and the twin of Decay. He is a High Lord of Chaos. Also known as The Festering Lord in the far western lands. Elsewhere he is also referred to as Voma and Krur.

He is often portrayed as a disease ridden, malformed man. His symbol is the maggot and his sacred colour is Pus Yellow. Adventuring priests of Disease will rarely be encountered.

Decay

The brother of Death and the twin of Disease. He is a High Lord of Chaos. Also known as The Scavenger and Urgulla. He is worshiped in the southern Khulian city of Shakuru by the beggars and lepers of that foul place.

Commonly Decay appears as a rotting skeleton and he is associated with insects. His symbol is a skeletal hand or a fly, and his sacred colour is Bone White. Adventuring Priests of Decay may be encountered throughout Titan.

Minor Dark Lords

The Malice of Orguz

This is the name of the Evil that possessed Orghuz of Gorak. It was referred to as The Evil One. Some believe that this force was that of a demon of equivalent power to the Demon Princes, but there is stronger belief that The Malice was actually the diluted spirit of an unknown Dark Lord.

Shekka

This is an ancient Goddess of witchcraft. Referred to also as the Dark Goddess. She is not to be confused with the Demon Sith who has been referred to by some cultures as the Goddess of Evil.

The worship of Shekka is amongst witches, most prominently in the Old World. Her powers are to an extent limited on Titan, perhaps as a consequence of banishment to the Void with the High Lords of Evil and Chaos. However, once every thirty-seven years the rising of Shekka's Moon takes place. This night is a night of powerful Evil when Shekka's power on Titan is at its strongest. The Moon rises as a blood red crescent. This is the most important night for witches. It is also a night when powerful demons can be released from Demonifuege (such as the Kurakil). This apparent subordination of demons to Shekka adds weight to the belief that she is a Dark Lord (this term applies to both genders).

Shekka's Moon is also known as the Witches Moon.
