The "forgotten ruler" of the Old World, Sansas is the ruler of Kakhabad, insofar as such a term can be applied to a city worse than the City of Mazes and the Port of Crabs combined, as some say. Not much is known about this man-some say he is a powerful crime lord who rose to become First Noble through backstabbing, blackmail, and intrigue. Others say he is a priest of Slangg who secretly controls the city for that wicked cult.
The ruling oligarchy of Khare is thought to be made up of seven nobles-six of whom have various areas of control-Trade, War, Finance, Foreign Relations, Internal Affairs, and Slavery-with the First Noble acting as a general ruler and overseer of the other six nobles. There is much intrigue and politics at the top of the decadent Kharean society, as the wealthy try to force themselves onto the council or gain control of another ministry. Somehow, despite all this infighting, and the attempts to take his position, Sansas has held both his position and the Council together under a strong rule.
