The Shrine of Hamaskis.The Forbidden Fortress |  ![]() |
The High Priest would like to thank Jared Milne for making available to us the following description of The Forbidden Fortress in Brice from the Cyclopaedia of the Old World by Sir Jarvis of St. Wymerios University, Crystal City.
Very few civilians live here, other than those who are necessary to support the needs of the army. This place is almost a giant military barracks, with soldiers being the backbone of the economy and its prime source or revenue. Splendid military parades, training grounds, noble manors, and fighting schools are in the higher section of the city, as well as the Lord Regent's Palace.
In the lower quarter of the city, however, are amusements for the common soldier: Whorehouses, drug dens, sleazy bars, torture parlors, and other disgusting businesses all ply their trade here, and I regret to say that many of the soldiers take their pleasures here. Many rejects from the army try to scrape out a living, but they are often used as practice dummies for the soldiers' fighting skills. Such a revolting place occurs elsewhere in Brice, in the City of Mazes.
