The Peoples of Titan

Contact the High Priest.

This page is under development and any comments will be much appreciated. The Peoples of Titan are the sentient races created during the Godtime and after, along with their descendants, both natural and magical. Most of the information contained herein was compiled and supplied by the Grey Mage, for which the High Priest is extremely grateful. The details heve been rearranged however, so any errors or omissions are due solely to me.

The Elder Races

This is the name given to the first four races created at the beginning of the godtime, along with their descendants. These four races have interbred and many offshoots have evolved over time, the most common of which are halflings and primitives. Some humans, particularly in the Old World, refer to the other Elder Races as demi-humans and the evolved forms as abhumans, much to the disgust of the peoples themselves.

The Children of Hashak

Although Hashak only created a few trolls and orcs from the clay he stole from his mistress Galana, his offspring and the races into which they evolved have become some of the most numerous of the denizens of Titan. Also, these beings can interbreed freely with the Elder Races and some of the Younger Races, so there are a plethora of half-breeds, which can in turn breed with each other. However, most of these are exceedingly rare, so only the main varieties are listed here.

Trolls:
Common Trolls, Cave Trolls, Hill Trolls, Snapspine Trolls, Sea Trolls (Deep Ones)
Orcs:
Common Orcs, Great Orcs, Blood Orcs, Sniffer Orcs, Pygmy Orcs, Swamp Orcs, Marsh Orcs, Shikome
Ogres, Slime-Belly, Sea Ogres

Warrior Races

During the age-long war known as the First Battle, most of the major gods and demon lords created races from the primordial clay to fight alongside their existing allies. Seeing the success of Glantanka's Dragons, many other gods created their own versions, and some even split their share of the clay between a dragon race and one of their own devising.

Some of the twenty-three Dark Lords created warrior races from stolen clay. Although the Demon Princes did not, as far as we know, have access to the clay, they have been associated with particular races. For example, Sith is revered by Fiends and Ishtra was once the god of the N'Yaddach.
Fiends (Marsh Fiends, Horned Fiends), Pan-Terric Behemoths, N'Yaddach, Tarators, Kokomokoa (Marsh Hoppers), Sirens, Kalundai, Wyverns, Wyrms
Shekka may have created Hags if they are a separate race.
The other Dark Lords each created a single monster rather than a a race of evil creatures:
Xiarga, the Horned Snake, Basilisk, Manticore, Gargoyle, Sea Monster, Behemoth

Younger Races

In the time since the Elder Races and Hashak's Children were released into the world, many other races have been created, whether by Gods, Demons, or, more rarely, mortal sorcerers. Such beings are, like animals, seldom created from scratch, however, it being much easier to alter or blend existing creatures than bring new ones into existence.

The most common type of younger race is a hybrid, created by blending the characteristics of a sentient being with an animal or animals:

Hybrids with Mammals
Cat People, Minotaurs, Rhinomen, Ratmen, Harpies, Greenskin Birdmen/Galon, Scurellor, Molemen, Tusker, Beastmen, She-Satyres, Prowlers
Hybrids with Birds

Hybrids with Fish
Freshwater Fishmen (Ice Warriors), Saltwater Fishmen, Pelagin, Yaematomo, Shark-kin/Karkarus, Swordfishmen, Elkeim, Man-Octopus
Hybrids with Reptiles and Amphibians

Other races have on occasion been created from an inanimate base. For completeness, we also list some diseases and curses which may change the form of individuals, although the victims are not members of a new race in their own right, as their children will not necessarily suffer from the same misfortune.

Trapped Spirits, created when supernatural entities were imprisoned in inanimate matter and found a way to reproduce for several generations:
Fog Devils, Tree Men, Mahogadon, Barkbiters, Earth Demons, Marsh Wraiths, Giant Owls and other Familiars
Lizardmen, created by Suthis Cha from mud and lizard skins:
Lizardmen (Liash Cha, Lizard Kings, Pygmy Lizardmen, Desert Lizardmen, Cleavers, Calacorms)
Other Races, created by any other means:
Korgars, Groan, Gorians (Eyeless Archers), Shapechangers, Krell, Wheelies, Miks (Woodwose, Spriggans)
Diseases and Curses:
Lycanthropy, Necrotic Jelly, Tongue People, Night Horror, Whirlwind Woman, Ant Symbiosis, Serpent Queen, Skeleton Men
