About Me ::  Research ::  Projects ::  Photos

Hi, I'm Matthew Leslie, and you've found my homepage. Congratulations!

If you already know who I am, you can skip this introduction and proceed to one of the far more entertaining sections linked to above. Those who feel less acquainted with me, and who perhaps feel uncomfortable encroaching further into a personal webpage without some familiarity with it's author, may prefer to read on.

I'm currently a DPhil student based in the Department of Nuclear and Particle Physics at Oxford University. I am a computer scientist by training, and my BA is in computation, also at Oxford. I am still connected with the Computing Lab and am a member of the Software Engineering Group. I have managed to escape the dreaming spires occasionally, spending almost two years working at Fermilab and living in Chicago Those particularly interested in my academic career may care to consult the research page or even my CV. Having recently returned to England, I'm currently living in the gorgeous Green College in Oxford.

Drinking, watching bands (mostly indie stuff) and listening to music are my preferred activities, though when feeling more cultured I do really like a bit of theatre and I read the odd book or two. I built up an enjoyment of more 'active' activities through doing a bit of rowing, and still do quite a bit of running. I have been known to occasionally go fly gliders with OUGC. I also absolutely love travelling, and I'm part of Team Gila Monsters that will take part in next years Plymouth Banjul Challenge, which will involve driving an old banger of a car from England, through France, Spain, Morroco, Mauritania, and The Senegal, and into The Gambia, where the car will be auctioned off for charity.
